Being in the Wild
From skiing and mountain biking to boating & hiking, he’s always chasing adventure!
Dr. Calderwood didn’t become a dentist to chase titles — he genuinely loves helping people feel comfortable in the chair and confident in their smile. His favorite part of the job is when a patient finally feels at ease.
Utah-born and raised, he studied at BYU before earning his dental degree at the University of Maryland, then returned to Park City in 2009. He keeps his care modern through hands-on training, lectures, and active leadership.
He’s a proud dad of six in a blended family with his wife, Kristin. At home and in the office, connection matters most.
"My favorite part of dentistry is getting to know my patients and learning about the things that are important to them."
Dr. Calderwood spent two years living and serving in Hermosillo, Mexico, where he came home with a lot more than language skills. He gained a deep respect for cultures different from his own, and a genuine love for the people in them. For Spanish-speaking patients, that means you can describe exactly what you're feeling, ask the questions you have, and fully understand your treatment plan, all in your first language.
Dentistry isn’t standing still, and neither is Dr. Calderwood. He regularly pursues hands-on training and continuing education because he believes you deserve care that reflects where dentistry is today, not where it was ten years ago.
As a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction earned by only a handful of dentists, he's logged hundreds of hours of advanced study across every area of dental care. That means whether you're coming in for a cleaning or something more complex, you're in experienced hands. His Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists also means his implant patients get care guided by the latest techniques in the field, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
As a former president of the Utah Dental Association, he’s also committed to not only practicing dentistry but shaping it! This leadership keeps him connected to the best minds in the field, and that knowledge flows directly back to you.
From skiing and mountain biking to boating & hiking, he’s always chasing adventure!
With six kids, life is nonstop – and he wouldn’t have it any other way .
New countries, bold flavors, and off-the-beaten-path experiences? Yes please!
Probably on some of my backpacking trips in wilderness areas. Like last year in the Wind River range. I remember waking up in the morning and brushing my teeth as I looked out over a high alpine lake and some beautiful granite peaks in the still, quiet morning hours.
Getting a patient to laugh or smile!
My kids tease me about being so goofy in public. I tend to embarrass them in public by doing goofy dances or being overly affectionate with them or their mom, in an attempt to get a reaction.
It has to be ice cream. I could sit down and eat an entire pint of ice cream by myself. Other than the calories, I love to eat ice cream.
